Short-term habitat use by young grayling, Thymallus thymallus L., under variable flow conditions in an experimental stream
Utilisation de l'habitat par de jeunes ombres communs soumis à des variations de débit en chenal expérimental
Résumé
In an experimental stream with refuge areas, hydropeaking simulations did not increase the death rate and the downstream migration of young graylings. They were capable of reacting quickly to the hydropeaking simulations by changing the use of the space related to the speed changes. Their reaction to experimental flow variations corresponded to a refuge strategy, in other words, to an habitat search in a nearby environment.
Dans un chenal expérimental contenant des zones de refuge, des simulations d'éclusées n'ont pas provoqué de mortalité importante ni de forte augmentation de la dévalaison de jeunes ombres communs. Les poissons étaient capables de réagir rapidement aux éclusées simulées par un changement d'utilisation de l'espace lié aux changement des vitesses. La réaction de ces poissons à ces variations de débit expérimentales correspondait à une stratégie de refuge c'est-à-dire à la recherche d'abris dans un environnement proche.
