Special issue on environmental and agricultural data processing for water and territory management
Numéro spécial sur l'informatique environnementale et agricole pour la gestion de l'eau et des territoires
Résumé
Nowadays, new information and communication technologies make it possible to collect considerable amounts of geo-referenced data. These data are generated by remote sensing systems or other computer applications. In order to take benefits of these valuable data, some new solutions propose to integrate them into Information Systems and Decision Support Systems. These systems represent increasingly effective and performing tools to tackle issues concerning the processing of environmental data related to water and territory. Indeed, they allow taking into account characteristics of these complex data and phenomena (such as semantics, spatial components, etc.) and of environmental problems (social theories, simulation models, participative issues, etc.). The main goal of this special issue of International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems is to collect recent advances in information and decision support systems for environmental applications developed for the management of the water and territory.
